John Lewis - Peterborough Store

Department Managers (DMs) Team Day

Orton Hall Hotel - Peterborough 30 Sep 08

Toojays Training and Consultancy led by MD Lee Martin supported by Iain Wilson, Katherine Self and Jon Pulford delivered the second John Lewis Peterborough DMs event of 2008. Following the success of event one a two day event held at Bramley Lakes in February 08 this event was designed to visit the success of the first event and see how the One Team - One Deal concept based around the Lencioni 5 dysfunctions had been implanted into the workplace.

TRUST - CONFLICT - COMMITMENT - ACCOUNTABILITY - RESULTS

With credit crunch and consumer confidence on the wain it was great to see and hear the positiveness amongst all the team to do the best we can, get the basics right and be ready for when the markets regain confidence.

A great day with 4 teams completing a series of experiential tasks in the afternoon and reviewing the tasks along the One Team - One Deal model.

Each team gained points toward a final target, by sharing the knowledge of success amongst the team the target was smashed - Well done great day.

Sportability Charity Golf Day @ Royal Norwich Golf Club
Sportability - Taking the Dis out of Disability
Dame Kelly Holmes MBE Double Olympic Champion says, "I have seen how important sport can be in people's lives, both as athletes and fans. But the concept of using sport to rebuild a life shattered by paralysis adds another perspective. The work that Sportability does is not only fun, but it helps people to redefine themselves and achieve far beyond the confines of the wheelchair."
Texas Scramble format played on a bright, then breezy then wet day at Royal Norwich GC, 22 teams of four playing for some great prizes handicap worked out as 10% of joint full handicap totals - 6.3 for our team (RAF Coltishall). The team of Bob W, Jon T, Jimmy W and Jon P started really well and after the ninth quite confident with 2 birdies and an eagle in the bag. However, slow play, wet weather and concentration levels sinking we managed total of 62.7 after the round. We were quite happy till looking at the score sheet and saw the 61, 60, 58, 56, and a 52 the winning total.
A good day out and a very worthwhile charity maybe next year might guarentee in mid July some good weather to top the day off.
Special thanks to Denis Wreford (Classic Golf) for the invite

Andy Neighbour Invites JP to Ganton Golf Club

Andy Neighbour invited me to his home course of Ganton, a Championship course that has hosted the Ryder Cup and the Curtis Cup in the past. Inland links course with lots of traps, gorse and furrows and burrows typical of a great links.

After a 4 hour drive, a pint of best Beaver (real ale served in the bar) and drank on the terrace it was off. One down after one and a lost ball JP was under pressure but 4 up after six saw jp maintain the lead to shake hands at 5 and 4.

Great day and a fabulous course if you ever get the chance play it, with lots of balls!

2008-09 - North Walsham Vikings will be coming out fighting next season with the aim of gaining an early return to the National Leagues!
NEW COACHING TEAM North Walsham RFC is delighted to announce that they have an exciting new coaching team! Club chairman, John Farrer, announced at last week’s AGM that he had just concluded negotiations that will see Norfolk’s strongest coaching team coming together to spearhead Walsham’s drive towards an early return to National League rugby. The club’s new lead coach is Nick Greenhall. He is joined by last season’s caretaker coach, Dave Smith, who takes on the role of backs coach, while Tim Malone also returns to Walsham as forwards coach. A further two coaching appointments are expected shortly.John Farrer, said: “There is a real feeling of optimism around the club now after the disappointments of last season. The appointment of Nick, Dave and Tim to these crucial roles will give us an incredibly powerful coaching team on which to build a winning rugby side for 2008/9. Nick and Tim have nearly 500 cup and league appearances for North Walsham between them and have just guided Wymondham through a fantastic season, leading them to 20 wins out of 20 in Eastern Counties 1. All three already work together coaching Eastern Counties so we know that this is a winning combination.”In addition, Jon Pulford is fitness coach and Ian East SAQ coach.
